Clock DVA is an electronic music group from Sheffield, England. Originally formed in 1978 with two members, Adi Newton and Steven Turner, Clock DVA originally were known for making a form of experimental jazz music. They became associated with industrial music with the release of their album Thirst on Industrial Records.
In 1983, Newton formed a new version of the band. First releasing the single "High Holy Disco Mass" on the major label Polydor under the name DVA, the band then released the album Advantage (with several singles) under the name Clock DVA. After a European tour, however, the band split acrimoniously.
Adi Newton formed a side project known as The Anti-Group (or T.A.G.C. for "The Anti-Group Collective").
In 1987, the band reformed with a lineup of Adi Newton, Dean Dennis and Paul Browse and moved in a different direction with the single "The Hacker" and the album Buried Dreams, a heavily electronic and industrial music influenced album that became their defining sound for years to come.
Dean Dennis has released solo work under the moniker Sector. As of 2004, Clock DVA has not released an album since 1993's Sign.
