Clyde (monster) - Definition and Overview

Clyde (also known as Pokey), the orange monster in Pac-Man, is recalled as the "odd man out" of the monsters that pursued the titular character. He does not actively chase after Pac-Man, preferring to wander on his own path, and even avoid a confrontation with Pac-Man if they were on the same path. However, his presence is often considered a nuisance for Pac-Man players; because all three of the other monsters were actively chasing Pac-Man, it sometimes became difficult to keep track of the straggler, putting the player in danger of accidentally running into him. Furthermore, when Pac-Man ate a power pellet, to acquire the maximum of 1600 points, he had to devour all the ghosts; because Clyde was often far away from Pac-Man, the player would have to go out of his way to eat him.

He was replaced by Sue in Ms. Pac Man, and Tim in Jr. Pac Man.
