The Clydesdale Bank, founded in 1838, is a major Scottish bank that since 1987 has been part of the National Australia Bank group.

The bank pioneered the use of mobile branches in remote areas of Scotland, cheque guarantee cards, and personal loans. It is one of three Scottish banks which continue to issue their own banknotes.

In February 2005 National Australia Bank announced its intention to merge the Clydesdale Bank with NAB's English subsidiary, Yorkshire Bank.
