Columbus Circle is a major landmark and point of attraction in New York City. It is located at the intersection of Broadway, Central Park West, Central Park South, and Eigth Avenue, on the southwest corner of Central Park. The circle is named in honor of Christopher Columbus, the explorer credited for being the first European to sail to the New World. In addition, a large statue of Columbus atop a pedistal is located in the center of the circle.
The neighborhood around Columbus Circle is both vibrant and eclectic. From Columbus Circle, visitors are within walking distance to The Plaza Hotel near Grand Army Plaza, Times Square, and Lincoln Center, as well as Hell's Kitchen and Midtown. Columbus Circle is also a major transportation hub. The M5, M7, M10, M20, and M104 buses all stop at Columbus Circle, as well as the A,B,C,D,1, and 9 trains.
Directly adjacent to Columbus Circle is the Trump International Hotel and Tower, and the newly opened Shops at Columbus Circle. Time Warner Center, the world headquarters of the Time Warner corporation, is also located in Columbus Circle.
