Columpa Bobb - Definition and Overview

Columpa Bobb (b. 1974) is an actor/playwright/poet/teacher of Coastal Salish decent. She has been performing, writing plays and teaching for a number of years. In 1997 she won a Jesse Richardson Theatre Award for Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role for her work in Firehall Theatre's production of Only Drunks and Children Tell The Truth by Drew Hayden Taylor. Her play, Jumping Mouse (co-wrote with Marion deVries, a play for young audiences, was nominated for a Dora Mavor Moore Award and a James Buller Award. Columpa Bobb is most recognized for her role of Mary Cook on the CBC show North of 60 and guest roles on the short lived series The Rez, also on CBC.

Columpa Bobb is the daughter of poet/writer Lee Maracle and Great-grand-daughter of actor Chief Dan George.

Columpa Bobb was a Cultural Instructor and Faculty member of the Centre for Indigenous Theatre in Toronto. She is currently teaching classes and directing the Young Company for Manitoba Theatre for Young People in Winnipeg, Manitoba where she now lives.
