Commercial diving is a branch of professional diving carried out by commercial organizations for purposes such as:

Contructing, testing and maintaining equipment for the crude oil and offshore construction industries
Boat and ship inspection, cleaning and maintenance
Fish farm maintenance
Fishing, such as harvesting higher value animals like molluscs and crustaceans
