Como is a city in Lombardy, Italy, 45 km north of Milan; the capital of the province of Como, it borders Lake Como.

The most considerable historic buildings in Como are: the cathedral, built between XIV and XVIII centuries, which is connected to the ancient town hall of the city (the "broletto"), the romanic church of S.Abbondio, with beautiful paintings dating to the XI cen.
Economy
The economy of Como was traditional based on industry (world-famous silk manufacturers): in recent years tourism has started to increase as an important sector: many VIPs have settled on the shores of the Lake of Como (for example Madonna, George Clooney, Versace, Sylvester Stallone) granting an international fame to the city.
