The Congolese Franc is the currency of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The currency was re-established in 1997 replacing the former Zaïre (which had been subdivided into 100 makuta; sg. likuta). As of January 6, 2005 there were 417.037 francs to the United States dollar. There are no coins.
