Connaught Place - Definition

Connaught Place (now officially called the Rajiv Chowk) is the central business district of New Delhi, India. It is instantly recognisable on any map of Delhi, being the big circle in the middle with radial roads spreading out in all directions, like spokes on a wheel.

Although Connaught Place, (C.P. to Delhi wallas) looks to be a well planned and logical area, specific shops are frustratingly hard to find due to the various one way streets and abundance of traffic. The centre circle (there are three) and Palika Bazar are undergoing a lot of construction due to the introduction of the New Delhi Metro system.

However, there is a lot of activity in Connaught Place. You can find good restaurants, cinemas, and bookshops here, and if you are a on business in Delhi, you will not be able to avoid it.

Connaught Place is partially closed for business on Sundays.
