Cornwall County, Province of New York - Definition and Overview

Cornwall County was a county of the former Province of New York, established in 1683 as one of the original twelve counties in the British Colony of New York. It was transferred to Massachusetts in 1692. Much of this region became part of Maine when that state was admitted in 1820.
