Cough/Cool was the fist 7" single from the punk band The Misfits. It was recorded at the Rainbow Studio in June of 1977 and then released in August as Blank Records number 101. The original, and only official, pressing was limited to 500 copies on plain black vinyl. It was produced as a 45-RPM format with a white label.

Recorded only four months after Glenn Danzig recruited the other members, the band had already seen one lineup change in what was to prove to be a long, frustrating, and ultimately insurmountable, game of musical chairs (figuratively) to fill key positions in the lineup. This was also the last record bassist Jerry Caiafa ever made under his real name. Danzig incorrectly spelled his name as Caifa in the notes, and he went by his more widely known moniker, Jerry Only, afterwards. It has been rumored that following the mix up, he told Danzig he was to be called "Jerry, only Jerry" from then on.
