Cricinfo is one of the largest cricket-related websites. It includes news and articles, live scorecards, and a comprehensive database of historical matches and players from the 18th century to the present. It became a part of the Wisden group in 2003, when CricInfo merged with Wisden Online. It is one of the most popular single-sport websites.
The original CricInfo was launched by a group of enthusiasts in the United States in 1993, as a volunteer-based collective including, in particular, students and academics who provided, or wanted to receive, free IRC match commentary on #cricket. Wisden Online was launched in 2001, incorporating a selection of content from Wisden's publications.
