Crossed extensor reflex - Definition

This involves a withdrawal reflex—the flexors on the withdrawing side are contracting and the extensors are inhibited. But at the same time, the opposite occurs on the other side of the body—extensors on the other side are contracting and flexors are inhibited. Think about when you step on a bee—the side with the injury withdraws from the bee, but, fortunately, the extensors on the other leg contract so they can support our body weight.

Example Usage of extensor
