Cubby - Definition and Overview

Reginald Youngblood, lead singer of Cubby

Cubby was an indie rock band from Jacksonville, Florida. They formed in 2000 and disbanded in 2004.

Cubby originally consisted of three former members of Honeylocust: Reginald Youngblood (vocals, bass), Keith Snow (guitar), and Kevin Snow (drums). Mandy Hill was the original vocalist for Cubby, but she left the band shortly before performing their first show in 2001. At that time another former member of Honeylocust, Kory Vonleue was added as keyboardist. Over time there were various lineup changes and two additions, Steve Ezell (guitar) and Michael Schmidt (bass, keyboards).

During the course of their three years as a performing band, Cubby never played outside of their hometown of Jacksonville. They also made several attempts at recording their songs, but only had one official release, an EP entitled Summer Romancer released in December of 2003. It included Cubby favorites "The Prettiest House", "Only Radio Whispered", and "Its A Virgo (Leigh Its Your Birthday)". Cubby has several unfinished and unreleased songs that may one day be released in bootleg format.
