Daisuke Ohata usually plays rugby at wing, and sometimes centre, for Kobe Kobelco Steelers in the Japanese Top League. He made his name as a speedy ace on the IRB Sevens circuit, and is now a regular member of the Japan national rugby union team.
Ohata is from the Kansai area and speaks with a strong Kansai (Osaka) accent. He attended Kyoto Sangyo University.
