Dan Gillmor is a noted technology writer and columnist for the San Jose Mercury News. He was one of the leading chroniclers of the Silicon Valley dot com boom and its subsequent bust. Gillmor is also the author of a popular weblog covering technology news and the Northern California technology business sector, criticizing copyright holders' exercise of their rights, and commenting on politics from a left-wing perspective.

Gillmor worked at the Detroit Free Press and the Kansas City Times before moving to the San Jose Mercury News in 1994.
