David Arnold - Definition and Overview

David Arnold (born February 27, 1962 in Luton, England) is one of the most popular and successful young British composers. He is probably best known for the film scores to Stargate (1994), Independence Day (1996) and the last three James Bond films.

A Bond fan from an early age, in 1997 David produced Shaken and Stirred: The David Arnold James Bond Project, an album of new versions of the themes from various James Bond films. The album also featured a variety of contemporary artists including Jarvis Cocker, Chrissie Hynde, K.D. Lang and Iggy Pop. This coupled with his success on blockbusters Independence Day and Stargate led to his first real James Bond assignment on Tomorrow Never Dies. Since he has scored two other Bond films and is set to compose the score to the next Bond film, Casino Royale, due for release in 2006.
