David Laney, born January 19 1949, in Dallas, Texas, is the Amtrak board chairman since July 2003. A graduate of St. Mark's School of Texas, Laney attended Stanford University and Southern Methodist University. A member of the Amtrak board since April 2002, Laney was previously a partner at Jackson Walter LLP and became a campaign "Pioneer" for George W. Bush by raising over $100000 for his 2000 presidential campaign.
