A death threat is a threat (often made anonymously) against a person threatening to kill them. Death threats are often intended to intimidate the victim, or to make them change their behaviour in some way. They are often made against people in the public eye, and for political reasons.
In many jurisdictions, making a death threat, even one that was not intended seriously, can be considered a crime.
