Debian GNU/Hurd - Definition and Overview

Debian GNU/Hurd is a distribution of GNU operating system with the Hurd kernel running on top of the GNU Mach microkernel, unlike most other GNU variants that are shipped with the Linux monolithic kernel.

It has been in development for some considerable time, but has not been released yet. Only half of the Debian software packages has been ported to GNU/Hurd and The Hurd itself is still under active development, not ready for use in a stable system. Most of Debian users today use stable distributions with Linux.
