The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) is the Democratic Hill committee for the United States Senate, working to elect Democrats to that body. Leading up to and during the U.S. Senate election, 2004 its chair was Sen. Jon Corzine of New Jersey. On November 15, 2004, Senate Charles Schumer was named to head the organization in the lead up to the U.S. Senate election, 2006. The committee's executive director is David Rudd. Previous recent chairs include Robert Torricelli (then-Senator of New Jersey) in 1999-2000 and Washington senator Patty Murray in 2001-2002. Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts, the 2004 Democratic Presidential nominee, chaired the organization from 1987 until 1989.
