A denialist is someone who, when accused of being a denialist, denies it. Though trite, this definition is the most succinct. In politics reputations can be made as easily (some would say more easily) by succeeding in denying a truth over a long period than by admitting that truth and informing others of it. The longer one can keep the lid on a thing the more skillful one is deemed to be politically. Hence people with such skill have a tendency to rise in political circles. Democracy is supposed to be able to weed them out.
