Diocese of Salisbury - Definition

The Diocese of Salisbury forms part of the Province of Canterbury in England.

The Diocese of Sherborne, created in 705 was the parent diocese. The cathedral city was moved to Salisbury (New Sarum), Sarum (Old Sarum) and finally to Salisbury in 1227.

It has parishes that cover most of the counties of Wiltshire and Dorset.
