Direct Access Democracy is a phrase coined to describe a participatory democracy subset.
In one form Direct Access Democracy (http://etches.net) uses technology to empower the constituent to be the final authority. Issues pending shall be posted and available for review by the populace on a variety of technological mediums. The constituents shall be allowed to participate in "representative" held referendums on each and every issue. A quorum would bind the representative.
