The scanner (or scouter) is an instrument in the fictional manga series Dragon Ball/Dragon Ball Z and the anime Dragon Ball Z, which Freeza and his people use to measure a life form's power.
Radar
Another scanner in Dragon Ball, is the Dragon Ball Radar, built by Bulma, and is used to find Dragonballs very quickly when compared to conventional methods. The radar is used in Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, but in Dragon Ball GT, the Dragon Ball Radar is assimilated by the robot Launch, thus giving Launch the ability to find the Dragon Balls.
