Dragon Warrior II, known as Dragon Quest II in Japan, is the second installment of the popular Dragon Warrior series, first released for the Famicom in Japan, or NES in the United States. Dragon Warrior II was later released for the Super Famicom and Game Boy Color.
Dragon Warrior II is set 100 years after the original Dragon Warrior. A century of peace is suddenly ended when the evil wizard Hargon destroys the country of Moonbrooke. Three descendents of the legendary Erdrick--the prince of Mindenhall, the prince of Cannock, and the princess of Moonbrooke--work together to defeat Hargon and restore peace.
Dragon Warrior II is noted for greatly expanding upon the original Dragon Warrior. DW II is the first game in the series to feature multiple heroes and enemies in a battle, as well as a sailing ship. It was the first to have weapons which cast spells when used in battles. In addition, Dragon Warrior II offers a wider array of spells and items and a much larger world.
