The Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies (Irish: Institiúid Ard-Léinn Bhaile Átha Cliath) at Dublin, Ireland was established by Erwin Schrödinger in 1940. The institute has three constituent schools - The School of Celtic Studies, The School of Theoretical Physics and The School of Cosmic Physics (with three sections - The Astronomy Section, The Astrophysics Section, and The Geophysics Section).
The institute was created by Eamon de Valera who was the Taoiseach at the time of the institutes creation in the late 1930s. Eamon de Valera was particularily interested in creating an institute for theoretical physics, leaving some in academia and society of the time thinking that more important ways of using resources could of been found in Ireland at the time.
