Duck River (Ohio) - Definition and Overview

The Duck River is a tributary of the Ohio River, approximately 30 mi (48 km) long, in southeastern Ohio in the United States.

It is formed in the hill country northern Washington County, approximately 15 mi (24 km) north of Marietta by the confluence of the East Fork Duck River and West Fork Duck River. The East Fork, approximately 20 mi (32 km) long, rises in the Wayne National Forest in western Monroe County and flows southeast. The West Fork, approximately 30 mi (48 km) long, rises out of the Wolf Run Lake reservoir in norhtern Noble County and flows SSE. The combined river flows south in a highly meandering course and joins the Ohio 3 mi (5 km) east of Marietta, between the mouths of the nearby Muskingum River (to the west) and Little Muskingum River (to the east).
