Dunford Bridge - Definition and Overview

Dunford Bridge is a remote hamlet in South Yorkshire, England. It lies in the Peak District, five miles west of Penistone and three miles south of Holmfirth.

The settlement, consisting of a few houses and a pub, lies beneath the Winscar Reservoir, on the River Don. The Woodhead Tunnel emerges in the hamlet, which used to boast a railway station. Now, the track is the route of the Trans-Pennine Trail.

Dunford Bridge is a centre for watersports and also benefits from walkers on the Pennine moorland using it as a base.
