Dunglish - Definition and Overview |
|
|
Dunglish is a contraction of Dutch and English.
As the Dutch language and the English language language have a lot in common, Dutch may make some grammatical mistakes when speaking English. These errors are called "Dunglish"
Examples:
- "Welcome in Amsterdam" should be: "Welcome to Holland". In Dutch, they would say "Welkom in Amsterdam"
- "That can" instead of "that is possible" (in Dutch "Dat kan")
