Bergen (population: 31,738 in 2004) is a municipality in the north-western Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. The municipality covers an area of 119.83 km² (of which 22.66 km² water). Its relative nearness to the North Sea makes it a popular destination for tourists, especially Germans from the heavily industrialized Ruhr Area.
The municipality of Bergen consists the following towns, villages and townships: Aagtdorp, Bergen aan Zee, Bregtdorp, Camperduin, Catrijp, Egmond aan den Hoef, Egmond aan Zee, Egmond-Binnen, Groet, Hargen, Schoorl, Schoorldam.
