Eiffel 65 is a trio of Italian musicians (from Turin, Italy) who play mostly eurodance and electronic music.
Although the band didn't form officially until the late '90s, they have played music together since 1992. The name "Eiffel" was chosen randomly by a computer software program and the "65" was scribbled onto their name on a demo by mistake; it was actually part of a phone number.
Their biggest hit was 1999's Blue (Da Ba Dee) which, with its catchy melodies, vocoded vocals and an unforgettable chorus, became an overnight success and hit #1 in many countries. The leading radio station in New York City, Z100 catapulted the song into American audiences. The next single, Move Your Body, was also a great success, securing the band's freedom from one-hit wonder status.
Their next album, Contact, was released in 2001 and was only a moderate success, despite various accolades, with the single Lucky (In My Life). The group continued to enjoy success in their native Italy with such songs as Viaggia Insieme a Me, Voglia di Dance All Night, and Cosa Restera. In 2003, Eiffel 65 released a self-titled album in Italian.
