Few are the things that we know about Vissarion and Ekaterina.
Vissarion Jughashvili (Stalin's father) met his wife Ekaterina Geladze at Gori. Ekaterina lived there with her parents. She was a religious woman and very close to the family, not depriving her children of attention and care. At the same time though she was a woman of strength that was able to impose on the family her point of view and will. And that was quite important in an era (Tsarist) that recognised no civil rights and in which the framework of family relationships was dictated by a higher authority.
