Erik Larsen - Definition and Overview

Erik Larsen (born 1962) is a comic book writer, artist and publisher. He first found success at Marvel Comics in the late 1980s, illustrating various Spider-Man and The Punisher comics. When Todd McFarlane left Spider-Man, Larsen wrote and illustrated a six-issue "Revenge of the Sinister Six" storyline in that series. Seeking greater control over the work they created, he and six other illustrators abandoned Marvel to form Image Comics, where Larsen launched a series featuring his childhood creation The Savage Dragon. Though he continues to write and illustrate The Savage Dragon, Larsen has occasionally returned to Marvel to write and illustrate, on titles such as Fantastic Four: The World's Greatest Comic Magazine, The Defenders, Wolverine, and Nova. In 2004 Larsen became the publisher of Image Comics.
