Eskom - Definition

Eskom is a South African electricity public utility company. Eskom was established in 1922 as the Electricity Supply Commission (ESCOM) also known by its Afrikaans name Elektrisiteitsvoorsieningskommissie (EVKOM), by the government of South Africa in terms of the Electricity Act (1922).

The utility is the largest producer of electricity in Africa and one of the 10 largest electricity utilities in the world.
