Eugene Lang College is the undergraduate liberal arts division of the New School University, formerly known as the New School for Social Research.
Originally a freshman student program at the New School, the program which would eventually become Eugene Lang College grew into a 4-year undergraduate program known as the Seminar College in 1973.
In 1985, following a generous donation by Hungarian-born philanthropist, Eugene Lang and his wife, the school was renamed as Eugene Lang College. Today, the college currently educates over 700 students in the liberal arts. Areas of study include arts in context, cultural studies, dance, education, literature, philosophy, psychology, religious studies, theater, and urban studies.
The school is located in the heart of New York City's Greenwich Village on 11th Street and 6th Avenue (also known as the Avenue of the Americas).
