Eurytus - Definition and Overview

In Greek mythology, King Eurytus, or Eurýtos of Oschalia (Oikhalia), Thessaly, was the father of Dryope and Iole. Autolycus stole his cattle.

Eurytus promised his daughter, Iole, to whoever could beat his sons in an archery contest. Heracles won but Eurytus abandoned his promise. Heracles killed him and his sons, and abducted Iole.
