Executive Council of Australia - Definition and Overview

The Federal Executive Council of Australia is Australia's version of the Privy Council in the United Kingdom. Active membership consists of the current Cabinet of Australia and other Ministers of State, who act as advisers to the Governor-General of Australia in council. Membership--even though not active--is for life.
