Explosions in the Sky is an American post-rock band. Members are Munaf Ryanai (guitar), Mark Smith (guitar), Michael James (bass) and Chris Hrasky (drums). The band is currently signed to Temporary Residence Limited, who signed the band on the strength of its demo after only half a listen.
History
Explosions in the Sky was formed in Midland, Texas, in 2000. They've quickly gained a reputation for themselves among other established local bands such as Lift To Experience.
Media attention was drawn to the band after the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon using hijacked airliners, as less than a week before the attacks the band had issued their album Those Who Tell The Truth Shall Die / Those Who Tell The Truth Shall Live Forever which contained the message "This Plane Will Crash Tomorrow" on the inside of the CD tray.
