"Eyes On Me" is the theme song composed by Nobuo Uematsu for the video game Final Fantasy VIII. There are several versions of this song, but undoubtly the most popular is the one sang by Faye Wong, which made this chinese singer reknown in western culture. It is said the song ranked as one of the best sellers in Japan, and collected a few music awards too.
The song's lyrics unveils the love story between a singer and one of the members of her audience. It can be assumed that they haven't met yet, but both share a romantic interest.
In the game, the song is supposedly written by Julia, a pianist who is the love interest of Laguna Loire. She has a conversation with Laguna which assumedly inspires her to write and perform this song. Chronollogically later in the game, the song becomes the reflection of the unfolding love story between the protagonist Squall Leonheart and Rinoa Heartilly.
