Face/Off is a movie from 1997 directed by John Woo and starring John Travolta and Nicolas Cage. It was the 10th top-grossing film in 1997.
John Woo's slick action sequences, coupled with strong expression of emotions by the actors, make for a unique genre of movies. Face/Off is the fantastic story of a cop who chases a mastermind criminal, and takes on his identity by a face changing operation to trace and eliminate a bomb threat. Only this face changing is done by actually transplanting the villain's facial skin over the hero's skull while the villain is in coma.
The villain gets out of his coma, and takes over the cop's face. And with that, his life. Ensues the rest of the movie - how does the cop get his face back? Can he take the villain's face off?
