Fantasy Warlord is a fantasy miniatures game released in 1990 by Folio Works and designed by Gary Chalk and Ian Bailey.

The game was designed and published by a group of ex-Games Workshop (GW) employees who disagreed with the much more commercial direction that company was taking. It was supposed to rival the warhammer fantasy battle game that GW published.

Fantasy Warlord featured some unusual game mechanics that were superior to warhammer such as excellent simultaneous movement and fog of war rules. It was also featured better balanced magic and troop choice systems than the 3rd edition warhammer rules that were around at the time. However other aspects of the game did not work so well, notably the combat system which was prone to throwing up statistical irregularities.

Much like warhammer, the game had it's own fantasy world, called Vortimax in which the battles were imagined to take place.

The game went out of print not all that long after being published.
