FedEx Field - Definition

FedEx Field is located in Landover, Maryland. It is the exclusive home of the Washington Redskins American Football team. The stadium opened in 1997 as Jack Kent Cooke Stadium, in honor of the former owner of the team. After the team and stadium were purchased by Daniel Snyder, the naming rights were sold to the FedEx corporation in November of 1999 for an average of $7.6 million per year. FedEx Field replaced Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium as the home of the Redskins. Like its predecessor, FedEx Field has not had a season in which the stadium failed to sell out its tickets. It currently is the league's largest stadium, with a capacity of 91,665.
