Federal One - Definition and Overview

Federal One (or, more properly, Federal Project Number One) was the collective name for a group of projects under the Work Projects Administration, a New Deal program in the United States. The five elements of the program were:

Federal Writers' Project (FWP)

Historical Records Survey (HRS, originally part of the FWP)

Federal Theatre Project (FTP)

Federal Music Project (FMP)

Federal Art Project (FAP)

It was part of Franklin Delano Roosevelt's Second New Deal, and was the largest of its projects.
