Fergus mor MacErc is the founder of the Scottish monarchy. Around 498 A.D. he moved the throne of Irish Dalriada from Ireland to Dunnadd, which is in Argyll. He was the father of Domhangart and Godfrey. Fergus' reign lasted from 480 A.D. until he was killed in 501 A.D.
The modern clan Fergus(s)on traces their lineage back to Fergus.
