Fernando Mezzasoma - Definition and Overview

Fernando Mazzasoma (August 3, 1907-April 28, 1945), born in Rome, Italy, was a political figure during the fascist regime.

His first government assignment was Vice president of the Mystic Fascist School in 1930. From 1932-1935, he was a member of Member of Federal Directory in Perugia. From 1935-1937, he served as vice president of GUF (Fascist University Youth for Perugia Province). On January 12, 1937, he became a Member of PNF National Directory. In 1939, he became National counselor of the PNF, and Vice President.

When Italy declared war on Britain and France, he volunteered as in 7th Tenente Artillery Division. In 1942 he quit the army to become the General Director of Italian press, which he served until 1943. In September 1943, he became the Italian Social Republic's first Minister Popular Culture, which he served until Italian Social Republic's dissolution in 1945.

On April 28, 1945 he was executed by the partisans in Dongo.
