Fingal is also the name of a town in the Fingal Valley of Tasmania, Australia. Fingal's Cave is a sea-cave on Staffa in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland.

Fingal (Fine Gall in Irish, meaning "land of foreigners", i.e. Norsemen) is an administrative division in the Republic of Ireland, part of the historic county of County Dublin. It was set up on 1 January, 1994 with the abolition of Dublin County Council, and covers the coastal area north of Dublin city and south of the River Delvin.

Fingal County Council inherited the former Dublin County Council premises on O'Connell Street, as no suitable building was available within the county at the time. However, this gave it the unusual status of having its county council offices significantly outside the county, O'Connell Street being in the Dublin City Council area. In 2002, the council moved its main offices to a new building in Swords.

Fingal is bordered by County Meath and County Kildare as well as Dublin City, South Dublin and the Irish Sea. Institute of Technology, Blanchardstown and Dublin International Airport are located within the county.

Fingal is the fifth largest local authority area in Ireland by population. The main urban center in Fingal is Swords with other important centres at Balbriggan, Blanchardstown, Castleknock, Howth, Malahide and Mulhuddart.
