The Big Boss (《唐山大兄》 aka Fists of Fury in the U.S., not to be confused with Fist of Fury) was Bruce Lee's first major film. It tells the story of a mainland Chinese from Guangdong who goes to work as a labourer in Thailand and, on experiencing the fate of his fellow workers, takes a stand against the Big Boss of the title.
The film was based on the true story of Cheng Chiu-on (鄭潮安) who fought the tyrants in Thailand. Cheng lived at the end of the 1800s and beginning of the 19th century. A memorial statue of him was erected in a garden in the Bangkok more than 80 years ago.
