Floriano Vieira Peixoto (1837-1895). Brazilian militar and politician. Vice-president in 1891, assumed the presidency following the resignation of Marshall Deodoro in November, 1891. He crushed the navy rebellion against him and a military movement in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. As the 2nd president of Brazil he is often called "the consolidator of Republic" or "Iron Marshal". President until 15th November, 1894.
