Formia is a small town/city on the Mediterranean Coast of Italy. It is located 1/2 way between Rome and Naples, and lies on the Roman era Appian Way.
As far as small towns go, it's full of excitement. The main avenue is 10-12 blocks packed with small boutiques and gelaterias (ice-cream parlors). There are a few nice beaches next to Formia. Terracina, Gaeta, and Sperlonga are three towns next to Formia that have nice beaches. Formia is not really a beach town, it's more of a port.It was founded by ancient Romans and Cicerone was killed there.
